Jesus urged His followers to “discern the signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3). Today, we see prophecies unfolding before our eyes—wars, natural disasters, lawlessness, persecution, and a growing hostility toward truth. Paul warned in 2 Timothy 3 that people would become “lovers of self,” “lovers of money,” and “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”
Yet, these signs also signal that the return of Christ is near. The darkness around us should not discourage us but compel us to shine even brighter with the light of Christ.
Living with Eternal Perspective
Living in the last days is to live with eternity in mind. This world is temporary, but our souls are eternal. We must fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18). Every choice we make, every word we speak, and every act of love or compromise has eternal consequences.
Living with eternity in view means:
- Prioritizing God’s Kingdom over worldly success.
- Seeking heavenly treasures rather than earthly ones.
- Pursuing holiness instead of popularity.
- Redeeming the time by using every opportunity to glorify God.
Standing Firm in the Truth
Deception is one of the greatest threats in the last days. False teachers, counterfeit gospels, and distorted doctrines will abound (Matthew 24:24). Believers must be rooted in the Word of God and led by the Holy Spirit to avoid being led astray.
To stand firm:
- Know the truth—study and meditate on Scripture.
- Speak the truth in love, even when it’s unpopular.
- Test everything against God’s Word.
- Remain in fellowship with other believers who can encourage and sharpen you.
Enduring with Hope
Living in the last days are not only marked by tribulation but also by promise. Jesus said, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28). For the believer, the return of Christ is not a threat—it’s a blessed hope.
Even in suffering, we endure with confidence because:
- God is still in control.
- The Gospel is still advancing.
- Our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Hope fuels perseverance. We may be pressed, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. The end is not a reason to panic—it’s a reason to prepare.
Living Faithfully and Fearlessly
Jesus said, “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13). That means we are not to hide in fear but to live in bold obedience. We are called to:
- Share the Gospel boldly.
- Serve others with compassion.
- Pray fervently for revival.
- Live righteously, knowing we may soon stand before Christ.
Every day is an opportunity to love, to witness, and to prepare. The Lord is coming for a pure and faithful Bride.
Conclusion: The Time is Now
We are not guaranteed tomorrow, but we are given today. Let us not be found sleeping, distracted, or indifferent. Instead, may we live alert, surrendered, and steadfast.
